Ordinance amending a previous ordinance designating the voting site assigned to seven of the 415 precincts in Lake County Townships.
Staff Summary
* After reviewing voting sites for the November 6, 2018 General Election, voting site changes are proposed to provide better voting site locations to those precincts hampered either by a site that is affected in its ability to continue serving as a site due to space and access limitations or that will be under or completing construction.
* In September 2015 (Lake County Board Ordinance 15-0867), Vernon Township Precinct 287 and West Deerfield Township Precinct 390 were temporarily assigned to the Chevy Chase Country Club polling site because the regular polling site, the Riverwoods Village Hall, was undergoing construction and renovation. Said construction is now complete so Precincts 287 and 390 may be returned to their regular polling site. With these two precincts re-assigned, Vernon Township Precincts 282 and 286 remain at the Chevy Chase site. The Riverwoods Village Hall has ample parking and voting space and is easily accessible to all voters.
* For Vernon Township Precincts 276, 279, 280, 281 and 285, the previous polling site, Aptakisic Junior High School feels it can no longer serve as a polling site. After extensive searching which produced no adequate site that fulfills Illinois statutory requirements, the said precincts are being re-assigned to existing, nearby polling sites.
* Precincts 279 and 280 will be re-assigned to Willow Grove School which closes school on Election Day and has ample voting and parking space and is easily accessible for all voters.
* Precincts 276, 281 and 285 will be re-assigned to the nearby Chevy Chase Country Club polling site which previously hosted four precincts, of which two are being re-assigned back to the original, regular site. Chevy Chase has ample voting and parking space for five precincts and is accessible for all voters.
