Staff Summary
• The TAA federal program provides funding for reemployment services to displaced workers who have lost their jobs as a result of increased imports or shifts in production outside the United States. The additional funds of $17,930 will be used for expenses associated with payment processing of training and transportation expenses. The grant period is April 1, 2017 through September 30, 2018.
• The WIOA Rapid Response grant modification of $48,546 is for staffing expenses related to case management of the displaced workers. The grant period is July 1, 2017 through December 31, 2018.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has provided WIOA and TAA grants totaling $66,476 to the Lake County Workforce Development Department; and,
WHEREAS, these grants are for the program period of June 1, 2017 through December 31, 2018; and
WHEREAS, this funding covers training expenses for displaced workers, staffing expenses associated with case management activities for the displaced workers; and
WHEREAS, an emergency appropriation of $66,476 is requested to allocate these funds into Workforce Development’s county fiscal year 2018 budget and authorize acceptance of these grants.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that an emergency appropriation in the amount of $66,476 for Workforce Development is hereby approved and that the WIOA Rapid Response and TAA grants be accepted.
