Joint resolution authorizing a contract with Precision Pavement Markings, Inc., Elgin, Illinois, in the amount of $37,235 for the removal and replacement of reflective pavement markers with recessed reflective pavement markers which will be improved under the Illinois Highway Code for a total of 23 miles, appropriating $45,000 of Matching Tax funds, and designated as Section 18-00000-12-GM.

 

Staff Summary

                     The County has raised and recessed reflective pavement markers delineating medians and lane lines throughout the County highway system.

                     The Division of Transportation undertakes the removal and replacement, where necessary, of these reflective pavement markers.

                     This project will replace raised reflective pavement markers with recessed reflective pavement markers at various locations on the County highway system.

                     This project is included in the highway improvement program.

                     A total of two bids were received, ranging from $37,235 to $55,165, and the lowest responsible bidder is Precision Pavement Markings, Inc., Elgin, Illinois, in the amount of $37,235.

R E S O L U T I O N

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to authority granted by this Lake County Board, the County Engineer heretofore called for sealed bids, by publication, for the removal and replacement of reflective pavement markers with recessed reflective pavement markers which will be improved under the Illinois Highway Code for a total of 23 miles and designated as Section 18-00000-12-GM; and 

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to said publication calling for said bid, sealed bids were received and opened on May 22, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at the Lake County Division of Transportation in Libertyville, Illinois; a tabulation of said bids being as follows:

$55,165

 

WHEREAS, the Public Works and Transportation Committee, the County Engineer and the Purchasing Agent have examined each bid, and it appears that the lowest responsible bidder is Precision Pavement Markings, Inc., Elgin, Illinois, their bid being $37,235 based on estimated quantities and unit prices; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that a contract be awarded to said Precision Pavement Markings, Inc., Elgin, Illinois, in accordance with their bid of $37,235, based on estimated quantities and unit prices, and that the Purchasing Agent, the County Clerk, and the County Engineer of Lake County be authorized and they are hereby directed to enter into a contract with said low bidder for the removal and replacement of reflective pavement markers with recessed reflective pavement markers which will be improved under the Illinois Highway Code for a total of 23 miles, and designated as Section 18-00000-12-GM.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is hereby appropriated $45,000 of Matching Tax funds.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in as much as such estimated quantities are the best approximation that can be determined at this time, these quantities may be added to, deducted from, or modified from in the final determination of the contract cost in accordance with Chapter 605 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes, Act 5, Section 5-205.2 without further Board action, providing the final cost chargeable to the funds appropriated does not exceed the appropriation.
