Staff Summary

                     On July 15, 2017, the Acting County Engineer declared an emergency for the collapsed culvert on Center Street, located east of Illinois Route 83 in Grayslake, Illinois.

                     The culvert collapse was a result of the historic flood event that occurred in July 2017.

                     In accordance with Article 6-103 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, the Acting County Engineer of Lake County certified an emergency procurement for contractual construction services.

                     The contractors selected to provide emergency contractual construction services is Hampton, Lenzini and Renwick, Inc., Elgin, Illinois, in the amount of $26,652 and Lake County Grading, Libertyville, Illinois, in the amount of $777,459.77.

                     This resolution, per Article 6-103 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, ratifies these emergency procurement contracts and appropriates $810,000 of County Bridge Tax funds for these contracts and other associated costs.

R E S O L U T I O N

 

WHEREAS, Center Street, County Highway 77, is a designated route on the County highway system; and

 

WHEREAS, the culvert on Center Street, located east of Illinois Route 83 in Grayslake, Illinois, collapsed during a historic flood event causing a safety hazard for the traveling public; and

 

WHEREAS, on July 25, 2017, in accordance with Article 6-103 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, the Acting County Engineer of Lake County declared that an emergency existed and certified an emergency procurement; and

 

WHEREAS, contracts with Hampton, Lenzini and Renwick, Inc., Elgin, Illinois, in the amount of $26,652 and Lake County Grading, Libertyville, Illinois, in the amount of $777,459.77, have been awarded to implement the determined repairs to the culvert; and

 

WHEREAS, an appropriation of funds is needed.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that the emergency procurement authorized by, and effectuated through, the Acting County Engineer for construction services with Hampton, Lenzini and Renwick, Inc., Elgin, Illinois, in the amount of $26,652, and Lake County Grading, Libertyville, Illinois, in the amount of $777,459.77 is ratified, a draft copy of said contracts are attached hereto.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is hereby appropriated $810,000 of County Bridge Tax funds for the repair of the culvert on Center Street, located east of Illinois Route 83 in Grayslake, Illinois, and designated as Section 17-00189-05-DR.
