Resolution celebrating Illinois Bicentennial.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Sunday, December 3, 2017, marked Illinois’ 199th birthday, as Illinois became the 21st state in the union on December 3, 1818; and
WHEREAS, the Illinois Bicentennial honors the many ways that Illinois has influenced American history, achievement, culture, innovation, and more; and
WHEREAS, Lake County government joins the State of Illinois, along with cities and counties from across our state, in celebrating and commemorating this significant historical milestone; and
WHEREAS, the Illinois Bicentennial Commission has planned several events and activities throughout the year to celebrate our state’s 200th birthday, including a yearlong multi-media campaign called “Born, Built and Grown” that honors the tremendous people, places and things that make Illinois strong, kind and beautiful, and
WHEREAS, the Lake County Board will host an Illinois Bicentennial Flag Ceremony on December 12, 2017, to kick off the yearlong statewide celebration in Lake County, and
WHEREAS, the Illinois Bicentennial flag will be on display in the Lake County Courthouse and Administrative Complex for the entire year; and
WHEREAS, Lake County will also join Bicentennial partners and residents in actively participating in the Bicentennial campaign to inspire all Illinoisans to be proud of Illinois and its rich history, and
WHEREAS, Lake County encourages residents to be a part of the Bicentennial celebration by visiting the website illinois200.com to view photos, videos and news throughout the year and use the hashtag #IllinoisProud as our state counts down to its 200th birthday on December 3, 2018, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lake County Board is #IllinoisProud and over the next year will celebrate all the things that make Illinois a great place to live, work, and visit.
