Discussion of Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) text amendments: local food.
Staff Summary
On August 2, 2017 staff provided an overview of UDO text amendment topics for future Committee action. In the first of a series of topic-specific discussions at upcoming Committee meetings, staff will present draft amendment language related to reducing regulatory barriers to local food production. Local food amendments, a benefit to public health, the local green economy and the environment, implement the Lake County Board Strategic Plan Goal: “Promote a Sustainable Environment”. Staff will refine the comprehensive draft after concluding the discussion series and present a final version for Committee action to formally initiate the text amendment process.
