Ordinance amending Ordinance Number 17-0806, designating the voting sites assigned for seven of the 415 precincts in Lake County Townships.
Staff Summary
• Several previously utilized sites have opted to discontinue serving as polling place due to their non-election related activities that render the voting rooms unavailable exclusively for voting. After reviewing voting sites for the March 20, 2018 General Primary Election, voting site changes are proposed to provide better voting site locations for those precincts affected the discontinuance of these sites.
• Each of these precincts will be reassigned to an appropriate voting site which has sufficient parking and voting space as well as full accessibility for all voters.

ORDINANCE
WHEREAS, Lake County has 415 voting precincts in 18 townships; and
WHEREAS, for Avon Township Precinct 23 and Warren Township Precincts 311, 314, 316, Wildwood Presbyterian Church has requested to discontinue as a polling place due to activities in the facility that require the voting room be accessible to the general (non-voting) public during the time that voting and site closing procedures occur.
WHEREAS, for Vernon Township Precincts 253, 260, and 261, Vernon Township Office has requested to discontinue offering its location as a polling place due to new activities in the facility that will render the voting room unavailable exclusively for voting; and
WHEREAS, each said precinct is being relocated to a voting site which has sufficient parking and voting space as well as full accessibility for all voters; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, the attached “Exhibits A and B” set forth the voting sites assigned to each of the affected precincts, which are identified by name and location.
