* A vacancy for the Director Public Works Director position has existed since December 1, 2016 due to the retirement of the incumbent Public Works Director.
* This position was advertised nationally. Rodney Worden was one of the top applicants interviewed by the County Administrator and Deputy County Administrator, along with an Executive panel and a Staff panel.
* The County Administrator has consulted with the County Board Chairman and recommends the County Board appoint Rodney Worden as Director of Public Works.
* Mr. Worden is a graduate of Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management Executive Program, received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, and a Master' of Science Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Stanford University.
* The Chairman hereby seeks authorization from the County Board to approve Mr. Worden's appointment to the Director of Public Works' position effective August 21, 2017.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, a vacancy for the Director of Public Works position has existed since December 1, 2016; and
WHEREAS, the position was advertised nationally to attract talented, dynamic and progressive individuals with unique skillsets; and
WHEREAS, several applicants from across the country submitted applications for consideration; and
WHEREAS, following the initial screening process, the County Administrator and the Deputy County Administrator, along with an Executive panel and a Staff panel, interviewed several top candidates; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Rodney Worden was selected as the most qualified choice for the position; and
WHEREAS, the County Administrator has consulted with the Chairman of the Board and hereby recommends the appointment of Rodney Worden as the Director of the Public Works Department for Lake County, and
