Joint resolution approving Change Order Number One consisting of an increase of $16,732.10, appropriating a supplemental amount of $20,000 of Matching Tax funds, for the Phase II design engineering services to stabilize an existing sheet piling wall adjacent to the multi-use path on the north side of Grass Lake Road, and designated as Section 16-00059-11-BR.

 

Staff Summary

                     Grass Lake Road 2018 Retaining Wall Maintenance, Phase II Design Engineering Services: Change Order Number One and Supplemental Appropriation.

                     This project includes stabilizing an existing sheet piling wall, adjacent to the multi-use path, on the north side of Grass Lake Road. 

                     This project is currently under contract with Amec Foster Wheeler Environment and Infrastructure, Inc., Chicago, Illinois, at a cost of $77,844.

                     Additional structural and roadway work will be added to the scope of services increasing the cost by $16,732.10.

                     Change orders need to be approved by the standing committees for cumulative net increases over 10 percent.

                     The County Board, at its meeting of November 8, 2016 approved an appropriation of $90,000 of Matching Tax funds for these services.

                     This resolution appropriates a supplemental amount of $20,000 of Matching Tax funds to cover Change Order Number One in the amount of $16,732.10.

R E S O L U T I O N

 

WHEREAS, this County Board, at its meeting of November 8, 2016 approved an appropriation of $90,000 of Matching Tax funds for the Phase II design engineering services to stabilize an existing sheet piling wall adjacent to the multi-use path on the north side of Grass Lake Road; and

 

WHEREAS, this project is currently under contract with Amec Foster Wheeler Environment and Infrastructure, Inc., Chicago, Illinois, at a cost of $77,844; and

                     

WHEREAS, additional structural and roadway work will be added to the scope of services increasing the cost from $77,844 to $94,575; and

 

WHEREAS, a supplemental appropriation of $20,000 of Matching Tax funds is required for these additional services; and

 

WHEREAS, the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance requires the Public Works and Transportation Committee and the Finance and Administrative Committee to approve change orders with cumulative totals above 10 percent of the original contract; and

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board that a supplemental appropriation of $20,000 of Matching Tax funds for Phase II design engineering services to stabilize an existing sheet piling wall adjacent to the multi-use path on the north side of Grass Lake Road, approving Change Order Number One in the amount of $16,732.10, and designated as Section 16-00059-11-BR.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution being presented to the Lake County Board for approval, the Public Works and Transportation Committee, and Finance and Administrative Committee hereby have approved Change Order Number One.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Engineer shall transmit, in writing, the final agreement, and any amendments, to be executed by the County Board Chair and the County Clerk.
