Joint resolution authorizing an agreement with the State of Illinois/Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) for the Illinois Route 131 at Kenosha Road intersection improvement, appropriating $1,295,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation funds, and designated as Section 17-00125-06-CH, and State Job Number C-91-124-16.

 

Staff Summary

                     Illinois Route 131 at Kenosha Road Intersection Improvement: IDOT Agreement and Appropriation.

                     Illinois Route 131 at Kenosha Road will be improved with widening, resurfacing, realigning the intersection and traffic signal installation.

                     This intersection improvement is included in the Highway Improvement Program.

                     The County’s portion of this improvement is for the realignment of Kenosha Road, at its intersection with Illinois Route 131, and a portion of the new traffic signal.

 

Body

R E S O L U T I O N

 

WHEREAS, Kenosha Road, County Highway 53, is a designated route on the County highway system; and

 

WHEREAS, Illinois Route 131 at Kenosha Road will be improved with widening, resurfacing, realigning the intersection and traffic signal installation; and

 

WHEREAS, the free flow of traffic along Illinois Route 131 at Kenosha Road is beneficial to the safety and welfare of the State of Illinois and the County as a whole; and

 

WHEREAS, the State of Illinois and Lake County believe it would be beneficial to the safety and welfare of the motoring public to realign Kenosha Road at Illinois Route 131; and

 

WHEREAS, the County’s portion of this intersection improvement is for a new traffic signal and the realignment of Kenosha Road; and

 

WHEREAS, IDOT and Lake County are desirous of entering into an agreement for said improvement, a draft copy of which is attached hereto.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that the County Board Chair, the County Clerk, and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized, and are directed to execute on behalf of Lake County an agreement for the intersection improvement of Illinois Route 131 at Kenosha Road, and such authorization shall include any subsequent amendments.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Engineer shall transmit, in writing, the final agreement, and any subsequent amendments, to be executed by the County Board Chair and the County Clerk, and grant plan and specification approval to IDOT.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is hereby appropriated $1,295,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation funds for the County’s share of this improvement, and designated as Section 17-00125-06-CH, and State Job Number C-91-124-16.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this agreement, when executed in its final form, be submitted to IDOT for their approval and final processing.
