Resolution approving participation by the County Board Chairman in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Lake County is a participant in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund; and
WHEREAS, elected officials with Lake County may participate in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund if they are in positions normally requiring performance of duty for 1,000 hours or more per year; and
WHEREAS, the Lake County Board Chairman undertakes a significant amount of work in fulfilling the duties required of the position which meets, at a minimum, 1,000 hours; and
WHEREAS, the Lake County Board Chairman's work includes working on National, State and County issues with the National Association of Counties, the Cook and Collar County Chairman's group, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning and various partner organizations; and
WHEREAS, the Lake County Board Chairman represents Lake County in advancing the County's Legislative Agenda which includes discussing matters with legislative leaders, testifying on various bills in the legislature, and working with organizations to ensure Lake County's voice is heard in Springfield; and
WHEREAS, the Chairman works to implement the County Board's Strategic Plan, working with over 30 County departments, agencies, countywide elected officials and the 19th Judicial Court on County business; and
WHEREAS, this governing body can determine what the normal annual hourly requirements of its elected officials are, and should make such determination for the guidance and direction of the Board of Trustees of the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Board certifies that the person in the position of Lake County Board Chairman is expected to work at least 1,000 hours annually, and that the position of County Board Chairman qualifies for membership in the Illinois Munic...
