RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, Nick Sauer, was elected to the Lake County Board and to the Lake County Forest Preserve Board in 2012 and re-elected in 2014; and

 

WHEREAS, Nick Sauer has been a strong voice in supporting fiscal responsibility, economic growth, and improving transportation on behalf of the residents in the 17th district and throughout the county; and

 

WHEREAS, Nick Sauer has served on several Lake County Board Committees including the Rules Committee, the Planning, Building, and Zoning Committee, the Public Works and Transportation Committee (current Vice-Chair), and the Financial and Administrative Committee; and

 

WHEREAS, Nick Sauer is a member of the Lake County Forest Preserve Board’s Planning and Restoration Committee (current Vice-Chair), the Education, Cultural Resources and Public Affairs Committee, and Ethics Committee; and

 

WHEREAS, Nick Sauer has used his government and private sector experience as a part of his family’s small business to promote economic growth in Lake County as a member of the Lake County Partners Board of Governors; and

 

WHEREAS, Nick Sauer has served as a member of the Northwestern Water Planning Alliance, a member of the Lake County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, and as an alternate on the Stormwater Management Commission and the Central Lake County Joint Action Water Agency (CLCJAWA); and

 

WHEREAS, Nick Sauer has been a consistent and strong voice for fiscal restraint and conservative financial planning.  He was a leading voice on successful efforts to freeze the County’s 2015 tax levy, cut unnecessary spending, and increase efficiency; and 

 

WHEREAS, Nick Sauer played a vital role in working with residents and local governmental agencies on the River Road and Roberts Road intersection improvement project, which, through the roads’ reconfiguration, has provided a safer and more efficient thoroughfare in Lake Barrington; and 

 

WHEREAS, during his time on the County Board, Member Sauer built a reputation that was quickly recognized at the State level, which led to his appointment as a member of the Illinois Toll Highway Authority Board and selection as a member of the distinguished Governor Jim Edgar Fellows Program; and

 

WHEREAS, beyond his roles as a public official, Nick Sauer is an active and influential community leader, who serves as a member of the Lions Club, chambers of commerce, Royal Family Kids Camps for foster children, and Citizens for Conservation; and

 

WHEREAS, Nick Sauer has received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Denver and is working on his masters’ degree from the Northwestern University; and

 

WHEREAS, Nick Sauer was elected as Illinois State Representative in November 2016 and will continue to represent Lake County residents in this capacity.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the County Board looks forward to working with Nick and our entire legislative delegation to advance legislation that assists Lake County in our ability to foster vibrant communities, grow the local economy and make government more efficient; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, offers its sincere gratitude and appreciation for his service on the County Board and extends its best wishes to Nick on all of his future endeavors.
