Resolution recognizing the contributions of Thomas Rudd for his years of service as the Lake County Coroner.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Coroner's Office is a countywide elected position responsible for investigating the manner and cause of deaths occurring within Lake County; and
WHEREAS, Thomas Rudd was elected to serve as the Lake County Coroner on November 6, 2012, becoming the first board-certified physician/pathologist to assume that office; and
WHEREAS, Coroner Rudd received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Illinois; and
WHEREAS, Coroner Rudd consistently demonstrated a meticulous and methodical approach in his death investigations, ensuring each examination followed the principles and protocols of the National Association of Medical Examiners; and
WHEREAS, by assisting deputy coroners in obtaining certification from the American Board of Medical Legal Death Investigation, Coroner Rudd helped implement national standards throughout his office; and
WHEREAS, Coroner Rudd appointed the first board-certified medical technologist to operate the Forensic Toxicology Laboratory, thereby providing a higher level of quality assurance in the accuracy and reliability of test results; and
WHEREAS, Coroner Rudd successfully administered the duties of his office, working within budgetary constraints, and without sacrificing the ideals set forth in the Coroner's Office mission statement; and
WHERAS, the Illinois Association of Law Enforcement Executives named Coroner Rudd the 2015 Illinois Law Enforcement Executive of the Year.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, recognizes Thomas Rudd for his service as Lake County Coroner; and
