Staff Summary
• Lake County is designated as a “Mandated Emergency Management Agency” by regulation of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA).
• “Mandated Emergency Management Agencies” are required to maintain a comprehensive Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) which is updated regularly and reviewed by the IEMA against state standards every two years.
• Lake County, through the Emergency Management Agency, has recently completed technical updates to the Lake County Emergency Operations Plan.
• The County Board Chairman is designated by regulation of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency as the official signatory of the County EOP.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Lake County, through the Lake County Emergency Management Agency, has updated the Lake County Emergency Operations Plan to be consistent with current state and federal guidance and requirements; and
WHEREAS, Lake County is required by regulation of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency to submit for review the County Emergency Operations Plan every two years; and
WHEREAS, Lake County, by signature of the Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners, is required by state regulation to accept and approve an appropriate Emergency Operations Plan;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the acceptance and approval of the 2016 Lake County Emergency Operations Plan by the Chairman is hereby authorized;
