Resolution providing for the appointment of Michael Dacey, as the Emergency Management Coordinator for Lake County.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, a nationwide search was conducted using internal resources as well as a search consultant to fill the vacant position of the Lake County Emergency Management Coordinator; and
WHEREAS, staff conferred with representatives from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency, the Lake County Chiefs of Police, the Lake County Fire Chiefs, the Lake County Emergency Management Coordinating Council, Sheriff along with other County Departments to seek their participation and input; and
WHEREAS, a committee was formed to conduct interviews with representative from the Sheriff's Office, Health Departments, Human Resources, and County Administrator's Office; and
WHEREAS, the selection committee interviewed a total of six candidates and background checks and reference checks were performed on all final candidates; and
WHEREAS, the recommended candidate Michael Dacey has more than 25 years of experience working in the field of Public Safety and Emergency Management; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dacey has most recently been working in Emergency Management for Chicago O'Hare Airport including experience in planning for, responding to, recovering from and mitigating against disasters of all kinds; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dacey completed all requirements for certification as a "Certified Emergency Manager" through the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM); and
WHEREAS, the County Administrator, recommends the appointment of Mr. Dacey as the Emergency Management Coordinator for Lake County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that Mr. Michael Dacey be appointed Lake County Emergency Management Coordinator at an annual salary of $90,000 with other terms and conditions of employment outlined in the Letter of Acceptance (attached hereto and made a part hereof); and
