Staff Summary
* As part of the Lake Michigan Water Project, the Grandwood Park water system will be receiving Lake Michigan Water from Central Lake County Joint Action Water Agency (CLCJAWA).
* The scope of work under this contract includes the abandonment of wells six and seven in preparation for the CLCJAWA water delivery to the Grandwood Park/Bridlewood Reservoir.
* The abandonment of well six is necessary to make room for the CLCJAWA water delivery structure that is being installed as part of the Lake Michigan Water Project. Well seven is also being abandoned since other wells in the Grandwood Park water system can meet current and emergency back-up water supply demands, following the provision of Lake Michigan Water.
* An invitation to bid was extended to 10 contractors and responses were received from two contractors, ranging from $37,611 to $46,038.
* Great Lakes Water Resources Group submitted the lowest responsive and responsible bid in the amount of $37,611.
* This resolution authorizes the execution of a contract with Great Lakes Water Resources Group of Joliet, Illinois, in the amount of $37,611.

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, the County of Lake (County) owns, operates and maintains water systems throughout the County including water systems in Grandwood Park; and

WHEREAS, the Grandwood Park water system is preparing to receive Lake Michigan Water from the Central Lake County Joint Action Water Agency, with back-up emergency well systems remaining in place; and

WHEREAS, it was determined that the operation of Grandwood Park Wells six and seven should be discontinued and the wells be properly abandoned since other wells in the system are being kept for back-up emergency use; and
