                     2016 Reflective Pavement Marker Replacement Program: Contract Award.

                     The County has raised and recessed reflective pavement markers delineating medians and lane lines throughout the highway system.

                     The Lake County Division of Transportation undertakes the removal and replacement, where necessary, of these reflective pavement markers.

                     This project will replace raised reflective pavement markers with recessed pavement markers at various locations on the County highway system.

                     A total of four bids were received, ranging from $209,814 to $399,859, and the lowest responsible bidder is Superior Road Striping, Inc., Melrose Park, Illinois, in the amount of $209,814.

R E S O L U T I O N

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to authority granted by this Lake County Board, the County Engineer heretofore called for sealed bids, by publication, for the removal and replacement of reflective pavement markers with recessed pavement markers at various locations on the County highway system, and designated as Section 16-00000-12-GM; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to said publication and calling for said bids, sealed bids were received and opened on May 17, 2016, at 10:00 AM at the Lake County Division of Transportation in Libertyville, Illinois; a tabulation of said bids as follows:

WHEREAS, the Public Works and Transportation Committee, the County Engineer and the Purchasing Agent have examined each bid, and it appears that the lowest responsible bidder is Superior Road Striping, Inc., Melrose Park, Illinois, their bid being $209,814, based on estimated quantities and unit prices; and

 

WHEREAS, this Lake County Board, by prior resolution at its meeting of April 12, 2016, appropriated $600,000 of Matching Tax funds for the removal and replacement of reflective pavement markers with recessed pavement markers at various locations on the County highway system, and designated as Section 16-00000-12-GM; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board that a contract be awarded to said Superior Road Striping, Inc., Melrose Park, Illinois, in accordance with their bid of $209,814 based on estimated quantities and unit prices and that the Purchasing Agent, the County Clerk, and the County Engineer of Lake County be authorized, and they are hereby directed to enter into a contract with said low bidder for  the removal and replacement of reflective pavement markers with recessed pavement markers at various locations on the County highway system.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in as much as such estimated quantities are the best approximation that can be determined at this time, these quantities may be added to, deducted from, or modified from in the final determination of the contract cost in accordance with Chapter 605 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes, Act 5, Section 5-205.2 without further Board action, providing the final cost chargeable to the funds appropriated does not exceed the appropriation.
