The Department of Human Services, SFY16 Substance Abuse Prevention Program (SAPP) Grant Award was increased by $58,404 for the period of July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016.  The amount requested to be appropriated in LCFY16 is $58,404.  These funds are for implementing the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) that is a structured planning process utilizing a data driven approach developed by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Association (SAMHSA).  These funds offset existing staff, program supplies, consultants, advertising, printing and travel.

 

The United Way, Success By 6 Zion Home Visiting Grant Award in the amount of $10,000 for the period of April 1, 2016 through December 31, 2016.  The amount requested to be appropriated in LCFY16 is $10,000. The program is designed to empower families to improve health and development; enhance parent/child interaction, and prepare children for success in school.  These funds offset existing staff.

 

The United Way, Success By 6 North Chicago Home Visiting Grant Award in the amount of $5,000 for the period of January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2016.  The amount requested to be appropriated in LCFY16 is $5,000.  The program is designed to empower families to improve health and development; enhance parent/child interaction, and prepare children for success in school.  These funds offset existing staff.

 

Suggested Motion

To accept the additional funding of $73,404 from the Illinois Department of Public Health, the Department of Human Services and United Way.  If deemed necessary, to authorize the Executive Director to execute an emergency appropriation or line item transfer to allow for expenditure of these funds for enhanced programming in Prevention.
