Staff Summary
• There is a need to enter into a contract with a successful vendor to perform tree removal and tree trimming services for the DOT.
• The services include tree cutting services and any combination of or all of the following; tree removal, tree trimming, tree stump grinding, tree debris disposal, and emergency tree removal service, if required.
• Bidders were requested to provide pricing for an initial project including the removal of 41 trees in various locations throughout the County, removing 350 tree stumps along the Northshore bike path, and providing a unit price for future work, as requested.
• An invitation to bid was issued and extended to 20 vendors and sealed bids were received from four local vendors and two non-local vendors ranging from $19,150 to $66,665.
• Ciosek Tree Service, Lombard, Illinois, was determined to be the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, who best meets the needs of the County, in the estimated annual amount of $30,000.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, there is a need to enter into a contract with a successful vendor to perform tree removal and tree trimming service for the Lake County Division of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, the contract shall include tree cutting services, tree removal, tree trimming, tree stump grinding, tree debris disposal and emergency tree removal services as required; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Chapter 33.036 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, a bid was called for by publication for Tree Removal and Tree Trimming Service for Lake County Division of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, sealed bids were received from six vendors at the Lake County Administrative Building, Waukegan, Illinois, on March 24, 2016, at 2:00 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, based on the criteria set forth in the bid; the staff evaluated all bids submitted and determined that the bid submitted by Ciosk Tree Service in the amount of $19,150 is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder for Lake County; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that Purchasing Agent is authorized to enter into a contract with Ciosk Tree Service for tree removal and tree trimming service for the Lake County Division of Transportation in the estimated annual amount of $30,000 and charged to account #268-4300040-65030.
