Staff Summary

                     The doors, frames and hardware work, in this bid includes supply of all interior doors, door frames, door hardware, locksets, hinges, closers, etc. for the courthouse expansion project.

                     The Lake County Board has authorized Clark Construction Group LLC of Chicago, Illinois, to proceed with a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for the infrastructure and interior work pursuant to their contract for CMAR services.

                     A bid was issued for doors, frames and hardware work on February 8, 2016; sealed bids were received on March 10, 2016, from one local and two non-local vendors, with costs ranging from $440,900 to $500,617.

                     Marling Lumber Company of Janesville, Wisconsin, was determined to be the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.

                     This resolution awards the contract to Marling Lumber Company of Janesville, Wisconsin, and assigns the contract to Clark Construction Group LLC of Chicago, Illinois, to manage as part of the GMP for this work.

RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 5-102 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, a bid was called for by publication for doors, frames and hardware work for Lake County courthouse expansion project; and

 

WHEREAS, sealed bids were received from three vendors at the Lake County Administrative Building, Waukegan, Illinois, on March 10, 2016, at 2:00 p.m.; and

 

WHEREAS, based on the criteria set forth in the bid; the staff evaluated all bids submitted and determined that the bid submitted by Marling Lumber Company of Janesville, Wisconsin, in the amount of $440,900 is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder for Lake County; and

 

WHEREAS, On April 9, 2013, the Lake County Board authorized a contract for CMAR services with a GMP for the Lake County courthouse expansion project with Clark Construction Group LLC of Chicago, Illinois; and

 

WHEREAS, On June 9, 2015, the Lake County Board authorized Clark Construction Group LLC of Chicago, Illinois, to proceed with the GMP for the construction of the Lake County courthouse expansion project work described as the infrastructure and interiors work in the amount of $53,851,936 which includes the work to be performed by Marling Lumber Company of Janesville, Wisconsin; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that Purchasing Agent is authorized to enter into a contract Marling Lumber Company of Janesville, Wisconsin, and further authorized to assign that contract to Clark Construction Group LLC of Chicago, Illinois, for work described as doors, frames and hardware work in the amount of $440,900.
