Resolution setting the compensation for County Board Members.

Staff Summary

•                     Pursuant to State Statute, the County Board sets the compensation for elected officials no less than six months before those officials take office.

•                     At this time, it is necessary to set the compensation for Members of the County Board that will be elected for the years 2017 through 2020 (Group One under the four-four-two year terms) and Members of the County Board that will be elected for the years 2017 and 2018 (Group Two under the four-two-four year terms).

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Illinois Law provides that the County Board shall fix the salaries of the Members of the County Board; and

WHEREAS, Illinois Law provides that the County Board shall set the compensation for elected officials no less than six months before those officials take office; and

WHEREAS, it is now necessary to set the compensation for the Group One Members of the County Board with four-year terms for the years 2017 through 2020; and

WHEREAS, it is now necessary to set the compensation for the Group Two Members of the County Board with two-year terms for the years 2017 through 2018; and

WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of your Financial and Administrative Committee that the compensation set forth below for the respective elected office holders be approved by this County Board;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the annual salary for the Group One County Board Members with four-year terms for the years 2017 through 2020, shall be as follows for the years indicated:

                     for the year 2017:  $  41,969  per annum

                     for the year 2018:  $  43,018  per annum

for the year 2019:  $  43,018  per annum

for the year 2020:  $  43,018  per annum

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the annual salary for the Group Two County Board Members with two-year terms for the years 2017 through 2018, shall be as follows for the years indicated:

                     for the Year 2017:  $  41,969  per annum

                     for the Year 2018:  $  43,018  per annum
