Staff Summary
* The Housing & Community Development Commission (HCDC) has been charged with developing funding recommendations for the LCAHP.
* LCAHP's fiscal year (FY) 2016 funds were made available for application concurrently with other Housing & Community Development funding for U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD's) program year 2016.
* The Housing and Community Development Commission (HCDC) recommends the following affordable housing grants to Lake County Board for LCAHP FY2016 funding: $41,000 for Affordable Housing Corporation of Lake County; $30,000 for LCAHP administration (Lake County Community Development); $50,000 for tenant-based rental assistance (Catholic Charities); $17,000 for credit repair and foreclosure prevention counseling (Consumer Credit Counseling Services); $76,000 for acquisition/rehab/rental in Highland Park, Highwood or Lake Forest (Community Partners for Affordable Housing); $32,500 for rehabilitation of a group home (Glenkirk); and $53,500 for rehabilitation of a donated North Chicago home for training purposes (Youth Conservation Corps).

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Lake County has appropriated funds under the Lake County Affordable Housing Program (LCAHP) to increase affordable housing opportunities to residents of Lake County; and

WHEREAS, the Lake County HCDC, having reviewed and approved the funding recommendations of its Affordable Housing Advisory & Recommendation Committee (ARC), recommends specific affordable housing projects and programs for LCAHP funding; and

WHEREAS, the Health & Community Services and the Financial & Administrative Committees, having reviewed and approved these LCAHP funding recommendations, are recommending approval by the Lake County Board.
