Resolution honoring military veterans.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the United States recognizes servicemen and women of the military including Active Duty, Reservists, National Guardsmen and Veterans every November 11th on Veterans Day and throughout the year; and
WHEREAS, some individuals have paid the ultimate price for freedom by sacrificing their lives for the safety and security of Americans everywhere; and
WHEREAS, Lake County has a unique role in our nation's defense as the home of Great Lakes Naval Station and the Fort Sheridan Army Reserve Center; and
WHEREAS, Lake County has a Veteran's Assistance Commission that provides services to veterans and their families; and
WHEREAS, there are currently 35,000 veterans who have served in America's Armed Forces that reside in Lake County; and
WHEREAS, there are currently 23 Lake County employees that are serving as Military Reservists and National Guardsmen; and
WHEREAS, Lake County fully recognizes, honors and complies with the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act (USERRA); and
WHEREAS, Lake County provides managers and supervisors with the tools needed to effectively support employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve; and
WHEREAS, Lake County appreciates the values, leadership and unique skills service members bring to the workforce and will encourage opportunities to hire Guardsmen, Reservists and Veterans; and
WHEREAS, Lake County will continually recognize and support our country's Service members and their families, in peace, in crises and in war; and
WHEREAS, the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, or ESGR, has served our country for more than 40 years, fostering a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
