Staff Summary

                     14th Street, east of U.S. Route 41, Culvert Replacement, Phase II Design Engineering Services: Consultant Agreement and Appropriation.

                     This project will include replacing an existing culvert under 14th Street, east of U.S. Route 41 at the Skokie River. 

                     A consultant will be utilized to undertake Phase II design engineering services.

                     In accordance with the Local Government Professional Services Selection Act, the selected, and recommended, firm is Hey & Associates, Inc., Volo, Illinois, with a cost of $44,500.

                     This resolution authorizes the execution of the agreement with Hey & Associates, Inc. and appropriates $55,000 of County Bridge Tax funds for these services.

 

Body

R E S O L U T I O N

 

WHEREAS, 14th Street, County Highway 78, is a designated route on the County highway system; and

 

WHEREAS, there is a culvert under 14th Street, east of U.S. Route 41 at the Skokie River, that is in poor condition and in need of replacement; and

 

WHEREAS, it is advisable that a firm be employed to provide professional services to provide Phase II design engineering services to replace said culvert; and

                     

WHEREAS, Lake County, by and through its Division of Transportation, has selected a professional engineering services firm, Hey & Associates, Inc., Volo, Illinois, in accordance with the Local Government Professional Services Selection Act, for said design engineering services for the replacement of the culvert.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that Hey & Associates, Inc., Volo, Illinois, be employed to provide professional design engineering services for the replacement of the culvert situated under 14th Street, east of U.S. Route 41 at the Skokie River, at a cost of $44,500 and that the County Board Chair, the County Clerk and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized and they are directed to execute, on behalf of Lake County, a contract and any subsequent amendments, for the provision of said engineering services for the replacement of the culvert situated under 14th Street, east of U.S. Route 41 at the Skokie River, with Hey & Associates, Inc., Volo, Illinois.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Engineer shall transmit, in writing, the final agreement, and any amendments, to be executed by the County Board Chair and the County Clerk.  

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is hereby appropriated $55,000 of County Bridge Tax funds for these design engineering services designated as Section 14-00196-09-DR.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this agreement be administered in accordance with Chapter 605, Act 5, Section 5-205.2 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes without further Board action providing the final contract cost chargeable under the funds appropriated herein does not exceed the appropriation aforesaid.
