Staff Summary

•                     The Disability Employment Initiative (DEI) grant has been awarded to Workforce Development to improve employer access to skilled workers with disabilities through the Job Center and throughout Lake County.

•                     Workforce Development has been operating the program since April 1, 2014 and has met with 195 individuals with a disability and has enrolled 40 eligible individuals in career services and training programs.

•                     The additional $52,700 is to pilot a partnership with College of Lake County Personal Success Program and serve an additional 74 individuals with disabilities in short-term occupational training and personal health and occupational fitness in order to aid in obtaining and retaining a job.

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has provided a Disability Employment Initiative Grant to the Lake County Workforce Development Department; and

WHEREAS, DCEO has awarded additional funds of $52,700 to Lake County Workforce Development for a total budget of $381,600; and

WHEREAS, DCEO has extended the agreement to January 31, 2017; and

WHEREAS, a CFY’15 emergency appropriation of $52,700 is requested to allocate these funds into the Workforce Department’s county fiscal year 2015 budget and authorize acceptance of this grant modification.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that a CFY’15 emergency appropriation in the amount of $52,700 for the Workforce Development Department is hereby approved.
