Joint resolution accepting the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) WIA Rapid Response Layoffs and Closings Grant and authorizing an emergency appropriation in the amount of $210,650.

 

Staff Summary

                     The Dislocated Worker Rapid Response Grant funds will cover tuition, fees, books, credentialing, work-based learning training wages, staff and administration costs for up to 35 individuals impacted by a lay off, down sizing or company closing.

                     The program period is June 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016.

RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, The Illinois DCEO has accepted a scope of work and has issued a grant totaling $210,650 to the Lake County Workforce Development Department; and

 

WHEREAS, this grant is for the program period through June 30, 2016, to provide services to individuals certified as eligible dislocated workers; and

 

WHEREAS, this funding is expected to cover direct participant training costs with a percentage towards staff and administration costs; and

 

WHEREAS, a CFY’15 emergency appropriation of $210,650 is requested to allocate these funds into the Workforce Department’s CFY’15 budget and authorize acceptance of this grant.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that a CFY’15 emergency appropriation in the amount of $210,650 for the Workforce Development Department is hereby approved and that the WIA Rapid Response Layoffs and Closings Grant is accepted. A chart of accounts is attached.
