Resolution ratifying an emergency procurement with Iskalis Interiors, Inc of Gurnee, Illinois, in the amount of $32,200 and Servpro of Gurnee, Illinois, in the amount of $42,603.07 for the emergency repairs to the first floor of the Babcox Justice Complex.

 

Staff Summary

                     Construction on the Lake County Courthouse Expansion Project caused a sewer line to be struck on July 27, 2015 and caused a backflow into the first floor of the Babcox Justice Complex.

                     Facilities identified flooding in limited areas on the first floor and basement of the Babcox Justice Complex.

                     Servpro of Gurnee, Illinois, a firm specializing in cleanup and restoration, was brought on site within two hours to thoroughly and appropriately clean and disinfect all floors and hard surfaces.

                     Iskalis Interiors of Gurnee, Illinois, was contracted to replace all soiled carpet and other flooring materials as appropriate.

                     Pursuant to the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance emergency procurements are made when there exists a threat to public health, welfare, or safety, or to prevent or minimize serious disruption of government services.

                     Pursuant to Article 6, Section 103, the Facilities Manager submitted a written determination of the basis for the emergency and the certification that the selection of the contractors was appropriate.

                     Lake County will seek reimbursement from the Contractor for the costs associated with the repairs to the Babcox Justice Complex.

 

Body

WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 6-103 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, emergency repairs were necessary to the Babcox Justice Complex; and

 

WHEREAS, construction on the Lake County Courthouse Expansion Project caused a sewer line to be struck on July 27, 2015 and caused a backflow into the first floor of the Babcox Justice Complex; and

 

WHEREAS, Facilities identified flooding in limited areas on the first floor and basement of the Babcox Justice Complex; and

 

WHEREAS, Servpro of Gurnee, IL, a firm specializing in clean-up and restoration, was brought on site within two hours to thoroughly and appropriately clean and disinfect all floors and hard surfaces; and

 

WHEREAS, Iskalis Interiors of Gurnee, IL was contracted to replace all soiled carpet and other flooring materials as appropriate and

 

WHEREAS, the Purchasing Agent issued an emergency purchase order for the repairs to the Babcox Justice Complex; and

 

WHEREAS, in accordance with Article 6, Section 103 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, the Facilities Manager has certified that an emergency condition existed necessitating immediate action to prevent or minimize disruption of government services.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Emergency Procurement authorized by the Facilities Mangaer with Iskalis Interiors, Inc. of Gurnee, IL in the amount of $32,200 and Servpro of Gurnee, Illinois, in the amount of $42,603.07 to repair the Babcox Justice Complex charging the total cost to account # 101-1220030-72250 is ratified.
