Ordinance amending the Lake County Liquor Control Ordinance.
Staff Summary
· The Lake County Board adopted the Lake County Liquor Control Ordinance for unincorporated Lake County on February 14, 1984, in which a maximum number of liquor licenses is defined.
· As recommended by the Liquor Commissioner, the maximum number of liquor licenses was increased to 118 licenses on October 14, 2014; all of which are currently occupied.
· Since the October 14 meeting, a reputable small business in Lake County has requested a liquor license.
· The Liquor Commissioner recommends increasing the inventory of liquor licenses to 119.

WHEREAS, the Lake County Board adopted the Lake County Liquor Control Ordinance for unincorporated Lake County on February 14, 1984, in which a maximum number of liquor licenses in defined; and
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the people of Lake County for the Liquor Commission to limit the number of liquor license in unincorporated Lake County; and
WHEREAS, the Lake County Liquor Control Commissioner increased the maximum number of liquor licenses to 118 on October 14, 2014, all of which are currently occupied; and
WHEREAS, to promote the growth of a reputable and established small business in Lake County, the Liquor Commissioner recommends increasing the inventory of liquor licenses to 119.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the amendment to the number of licenses available in Lake County Liquor Control Ordinance (attached as "Exhibit A") be adopted and be made effective immediately.
