Staff Summary
· Public Works provides water service throughout portions of Lake County and, from time to time, those utilities require repairs.
· When water main breaks occur under pavement, replacement of the pavement is required.
· Pavement providing access to Lake County Public Works facilities also require maintenance and repair.
· As part of the County's shared services initiative, Lake County Public Works Department and the Division of Transportation prepared a joint bid for hot-mix paving and seal coating.
· An invitation to bid was extended to multiple vendors and responses were opened at the Division of Transportation on Tuesday March 17, 2015.
· Schroeder Asphalt Services Inc., Huntley, Illinois, submitted the lowest responsive and responsible bid in the amount of $159,429.65.
· This resolution authorizes the execution of a contract with Schroeder Asphalt Services Inc., Huntley, Illinois, in the amount of $159,429.65.

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, the County of Lake (County) owns and operates water supply and sewer main systems, and sewage treatment facilities serving diverse communities throughout the County; and
WHEREAS, the facilities and underground systems are located under streets, paved driveways and parking areas which are in need of refurbishment; and
WHEREAS, some utility breaks occur under pavement and require pavement to be replaced; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, bids were called for by publication for the 2015 Hot-Mix Asphalt Patching Project; and
WHEREAS, the County Board encourages shared services when appropriate; and
WHEREAS, the Division of Transportation and the Public Works Department agreed to joint bid the 2015 Hot-Mix Asphalt Patching Project; and
WHEREAS, four (4) sealed bids were received and publicly opened in the office of the Lake County Division of Transportation on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at 10:00 a.m.; and
WHEREAS, Schroeder Asphalt Services Inc., Huntley, Illinois, is the lowest responsive, responsible bidder in the amount of $159,429.65; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized and directed to execute a contract with Schroeder Asphalt Services Inc., Huntley, Illinois, in the amount of $159,429.65 for the 2015 Hot-Mix Asphalt Patching Project and charging the costs thereof to various accounts.
