Staff Summary
* On behalf of the Metro Suburban Region, Will County applied for and was awarded a $2.02 million dollar Workforce Innovation Grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to deliver the Accelerated Training for Illinois Manufacturing (ATIM) program with regional partnerships representing Lake, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, McHenry, and Will counties.
* The Accelerated Training for Illinois Manufacturing (ATIM) program is designed to address the mismatch of worker skills and available jobs in the manufacturing industry.
* Lake County has been operating the program since June 1, 2013 and has enrolled 36 eligible adults/dislocated workers in training programs and is prepared to enroll an additional 5 through August 31, 2015.
* With the additional funding, the total program budget is $450,000, which provides for occupational and on-the-job training, industry certifications and case management.

Body
WHEREAS, Will County has received a Workforce Innovation Grant on behalf of the Metro Suburban Region and has awarded a subcontractor agreement to Lake County Workforce Development Department to deliver the Accelerated Training for Illinois Manufacturing (ATIM) program; and

WHEREAS, has awarded additional funds of $100,000 to Lake County Workforce Development for a total budget of $450,000; and

WHEREAS, has extended the agreement to August 31, 2015; and

WHEREAS, a CFY'15 emergency appropriation of $100,000 is requested to allocate these funds into the Workforce Department's county fiscal year 2015 budget and authorize acceptance of this grant.
