Staff Summary

·      The County has the need for construction testing services related to the construction phase of the Lake County Courthouse Expansion Project which includes soils, concrete, steel, paving, masonry and fire protection materials inspection and testing.

·      In accordance with the Local Government Professional Services Selection Act, the recommended firm is Testing Services Corporation of Gurnee, Illinois.

·      This contract authorizes a professional services agreement with Testing Services Corporation of Gurnee, Illinois, based on hourly rates for field work and unit prices for laboratory work related to the construction phase of the Lake County Courthouse Expansion Project in an estimated amount of $164,540.

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the County is in need of construction testing services related to the construction phase of the Lake County Courthouse Expansion Project; and

WHEREAS, due to the specialized nature of this project, the County requires design services from an engineering firm qualified in this type of work; and

WHEREAS, Testing Services Corporation, Gurnee, Illinois, is qualified to provide the construction testing services for this project in accordance with the Local Government Professional Services Selection Act, 50 ILCS 510/1 et. seq.; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized and directed to execute the Agreement for Construction Testing Services with Testing Services Corporation of Gurnee, Illinois, in the estimated amount of $164,540 for services related to the construction phase of the Lake County Courthouse Expansion project charging the costs to account #101-1103920-82020.
