R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Fairfield Road, County Highway 49, is a designated route on the County highway system; and
WHEREAS, the free flow of traffic along Fairfield Road, at Illinois Route 132, is beneficial to the safety and welfare of the State of Illinois and the County as a whole; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois and Lake County believe it would be beneficial to the safety and welfare of the motoring public to reconstruct Fairfield Road, at Illinois Route 132; and
WHEREAS, the County's portion of this improvement is for the north leg reconstruction of Fairfield Road, requested by the County, and the local share of the remaining improvement along County highways; and
WHEREAS, Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and Lake County are desirous of entering into an agreement for said improvement, a draft copy of which is attached hereto.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board that the County Board Chair, the County Clerk, and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized, and they are directed to execute on behalf of Lake County, an agreement, for the intersection improvement of Fairfield Road, at Illinois Route 132, and such authorization shall include any subsequent amendments.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Engineer shall transmit, in writing, the final agreement, and any subsequent amendments, to be executed by the County Board Chair and the County Clerk, and grant plan and specification approval to IDOT.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is hereby appropriated $265,000 of Motor Fuel Tax funds for the County's share of this improvement, and designated as Section 14-00180-02-CH.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this appropriation be processed by the County Engineer for final approval of the Illinois Department of Transportation in accordance with the "Agreement of Understanding" between the Illinois Department of Transportation and Lake County, dated January 18, 2013.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this agreement, when executed in its final form, be submitted to the Illinois Department of Transportation for their approval and final processing.
