ElderCARE Lake County Affordable Housing Program (LCAHP) Grant Amendment Request
Staff Summary
· ElderCARE is requesting that the HCDC approve an amendment to its 2012 and 2013 LCAHP contracts for the Accessible Safe Homes for Elders (ASHE) program.
· ElderCARE was awarded LCAHP funds in the amounts of $15,000 in 2012 and $7,500 in 2013 for the ASHE program which provides small grants to elders in order for them to make accessibility improvements to their homes. They request a 2012 grant extension and permission to make the following change in their own program guidelines.
· As of January 2015 there remains a balance of unspent funds in the 2012 contract due to slow spending caused by the program's initial $750 grant per senior limit. The cost of actual improvements needed in the seniors' homes is. In order to remedy the slow spending and complete the contract, ElderCARE requests permission to change their program guidelines to raise the maximum grant per senior limit from $750 to $2,000 for their 2012 and 2013 LCAHP contracts.
