Approval of Primary Care Services Grants - Ang

Body
Approval of $25,040 in funding from the Peoria Memorial Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Inc.

On January 5, 2015, the Peoria Memorial Affiliate of the Susan B. Komen Foundation awarded the Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center $25,040 in grant funding. The grant will fund screening mammograms for uninsured Lake County women between the ages of 40-49. Based on current prices, LCHD/CHC is projecting that 176 women will receive services using Komen funds. Services will be provided through the Lake County Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer program (IBCCP) which is part of the Primary Care Service Area of the LCHD/CHC.

Currently, the Lake County IBCCP program has a high demand for services. Given this demand, the program is on priority funding which means the majority of its dollars can only be expended for women over the age of 50. Funding from the Komen foundation therefore allows the program to also provide services to uninsured women between the age of 40 and 49. Per Komen requirements, 100% of funds are used to provide screening mammogram services.

LCHD/CHC has received financial support from the Susan G. Komen foundation since 2005. From 2014 to 2015, LCHD/CHC received a 46% increase in funding. The total amount received increased from $17,100 to $25,040.

The grant period for the award is January 1, 2015-December 31, 2015.

Approval of $10,000 in additional grant funding from the Illinois Department of Public Health for the Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) has provided the Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program (IBCCP) with $10,000 in additional funding. This funding will be used to add a part-time position to the Lake IBCCP team for the remainder of the grant period.
