Resolution amending an ordinance establishing precinct boundaries.
Staff Summary
* Lake County's precinct boundaries of its 415 voting precincts in 18 townships are established to balance population among the various precincts and to follow legislative district boundary lines as nearly as practicable in order to minimize ballot style splits in a precinct.
* Adjustments to the boundaries of Ela Township precincts 78 and 88 would eliminate a ballot style split.
* Adjustments to the boundaries of Lake Villa Township precincts 146 and 147 would eliminate a ballot style split.
Body
WHEREAS, Lake County has 415 voting precincts in 18 townships; and,
WHEREAS, precinct boundaries are established to balance population among the various precincts and to follow legislative district boundary lines as nearly as practicable in order to minimize ballot style splits in a precinct: and,
WHEREAS, adjustments to precinct boundaries for Ela Township Precincts 78 and 88 would eliminate a ballot style split; and,
WHEREAS, adjustments to precinct boundaries for Lake Villa Township Precincts 146 and 147 would eliminate a ballot style split; and,
WHEREAS, adjusting the existing boundaries will establish boundaries which are consistent with statutory requirements and County Board policy; and,
WHEREAS, it is recommended that the registered voters at the parcels identified on Exhibit A for Ela Township precinct 88 be included within the boundaries of Ela Township precinct 78 and that the registered voters at the parcels identified on Exhibit B for Lake Villa Township precinct 147 be included within the boundaries of Lake Villa Township precinct 148; and,
WHEREAS, each voter shall receive a new Certificate of Registration setting forth the new precinct number; and,
