The Health Department has received an increase in the Williams Consent Decree contract from the Illinois Department of Human Services for the Drop-in Center for the period of April 1, 2014 - June 30, 2014. The Drop-in Center has been awarded annually at an amount of $235,652 and was included in the FY2014 budget that was approved by the Board of Health and the Lake County Board. This contract amendment will add $24,113 to allow additional staffing at the Drop-in Center.
The Drop-in Center program provides therapeutic interactive assimilation activities to Williams Consent Decree clients. The goal is to work with the clients in a social setting that will assist them in transitioning from institutions for mental disease to independent living in the community.
The contract amendment will be used to fund the hiring of an additional peer support staff person at the Drop-in Center and allow the Drop-in Center to maintain a safe therapeutic ratio of staff to class members. The additional staff will also all the Drop-in-Center to provide further community outings to its members.
Suggested Motion
To approve: the increased grant contract funding of $24,113 from the Illinois Department of Human Services; and if deemed necessary by the Executive Director, to recommend to the County Board an emergency appropriation or line item transfer be approved to allow for expenditure of these funds.
