Joint resolution accepting the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) Workforce Investment Act (WIA) grant modification and WIA Local Incentive grant, in the amount of $147,293, and authorizing an emergency appropriation.
Staff Summary
· The WIA grant modification of $68,062 increases the WIA dislocated worker annual allocation for general operations and direct participant costs. The grant period is July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2015.
· The WIA Local Incentive grant of $79,231 is a result of Lake County Workforce Development meeting or exceeding performance measures for the program year ending June 30, 2013. The grant period is March 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015.

WHEREAS, The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has provided a grant and grant modification to the WIA dislocated worker grant totaling $68,062 to the Lake County Workforce Development Department; and,
WHEREAS, The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has provided a WIA Local Incentive grant totaling $79,231 to the Lake County Workforce Development Department; and,
WHEREAS, these grants are for the program period July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2015, to deliver workforce development programs and provide services to individuals certified under the Workforce Investment Act; and
WHEREAS, a FY 2014 emergency appropriation of $147,293 is requested to allocate these funds into the Workforce Department's county fiscal year 2014 budget and authorize acceptance of this grant.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that a FY 2014 emergency appropriation in the amount of $147,293 for the Workforce Development Department is hereby approved and that the WIA grant and the WIA Local Incentive grant be accepted. A chart of accounts is attached.
