Joint resolution authorizing execution of an agreement with Current Technologies Corporation, Downers Grove, Illinois to provide a Public Safety Microwave Network for Lake County Emergency Telephone System Board (ETSB) in an amount not to exceed $344,022.84.
Staff Summary
* The Lake County Emergency Telephone System Board (ETSB) is currently utilizing VPLS Fiber Connection approved by the Lake County Board in October 2012.
* The new microwave system will increase reliability of data communication, provide high bandwidth for transmission of mission critical data, enable secure and reliable communication for the 911 Next-Gen phone system and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and allow for expansion of shared services across the communication platform.
* A Request for Proposal (RFP) was issued for a turnkey system that provided for the configuration, installation, monitoring and maintenance of a new public safety microwave system backbone network with a physical ring topology to the respective Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) within Lake County.
* The RFP was sent to 42 vendors and proposals were received from eight firms.
* A selection committee comprised of staff from the ETSB Technology Committee and Purchasing Division recommend the services of Current Technologies Corporation, Downers Grove, Illinois as the firm who best meets the needs of the County based on the RFP evaluation criteria.
* The ETSB approved this purchase on March 4, 2014.
* The contract includes configuration, installation monitoring and maintenance at a contract amount of $344,022.84 with an ongoing annual software maintenance cost estimated at $33,450 for years two and three and $35,550 for years four and five.
