Staff Summary
· The Community Development Commission (CDC) was charged with developing funding recommendations for the Lake County AHP.
· There were more than $2.8 million in requests for the available $713,864.
· The CDC reviewed and made the funding recommendations as noted in the provided attachment.
· Approval of the recommendations from the CDC is requested.
Body
WHEREAS, Lake County has appropriated funds under the Affordable Housing Program (AHP) to increase affordable housing opportunities to residents of Lake County, totaling $713,864; and
WHEREAS, the Health and Community Services Committee designated the Community Development Commission (CDC) to review applications and make recommendations for funding; and
WHEREAS, the CDC, having received requests of over $2.8 million, thoroughly reviewed the applications and is recommending funding to highly rated projects.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the County Board Chairman or his designee is hereby authorized to execute program contracts with the following agencies, in the amounts shown, for affordable housing activities:
· Affordable Housing Corporation (AHC) - $50,000 Foreclosure Prevention
· Mano a Mano Family Resource Center - $10,000 Foreclosure Prevention
· Affordable Housing Corporation - $15,000 Downpayment Assistance
· ElderCARE@ChristChurch - $15,000 Homeowner Rehab
· YouthBuild Lake County - $60,000 New Construction/Rehab
· ArtSpace - $175,000 Housing Rehab
· Community Partners for Affordable Housing - $57,500 Housing Rehab
· Lakewood Village - $125,000 Housing Rehab
· LCRDC - $116,000 Housing Rehab
· NorthPointe Resources - $16,500 Housing Rehab
· Catholic Charities - $73,864 Rental Assistance.
