R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Cedar Lake Road, County Highway 28, and Monaville Road, County Highway 55, are designated routes on the County highway system; and
WHEREAS, the free flow of traffic along Cedar Lake Road and Monaville Road is beneficial to the safety and welfare to the State of Illinois and the County as a whole; and
WHEREAS, Lake County believes it would be beneficial to the safety and welfare of the motoring public if the intersection of Cedar Lake Road at Monaville Road could be improved; and
WHEREAS, the NICOR Gas Company has a natural gas main located within an existing easement in the area of the improvement; and
WHEREAS it will be necessary to relocate the said natural gas line to accommodate the upcoming intersection improvement of Cedar Lake Road at Monaville Road; and
WHEREAS it will be necessary for Lake County to reimburse the NICOR Gas Company for the cost to relocate their facilities, estimate to cost $328,202; and
WHEREAS, the NICOR Gas Company and Lake County are desirous of entering into an agreement to provide for the relocation of the said natural gas line setting forth the terms and obligations to each agency, a draft copy of which is attached hereto; and
WHEREAS, in order to start the relocation work an appropriation of funds is needed.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that the County Board Chair, the County Clerk and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized and they are directed to execute an agreement pertaining to the terms and conditions of the above-named utility relocation. The County Engineer shall transmit in writing the final agreement to be executed by the County Board Chair and the County Clerk.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is appropriated $395,000 of Matching Tax funds for this utility relocation and is designated as Section 12-00153-09-MS.
