Resolution amending Section 10.10 Cellular Telephones of the Lake County Employee Policies and Procedures Ordinance.
Staff Summary
· Over the last several months, Finance and Administrative Services requested departmental input in the revision of the current policy.
· Representatives of 10 County departments met and identified sections of the policy that required revisions, updates, and clarification, especially with regards to new technology.
· The changes include that under certain circumstances an allowance will be provided in place of a County-issued cell phone.
· The draft policy was sent to department heads for review and final changes were incorporated for presentation to the Finance and Administrative Committee.
Body
WHEREAS, certain Lake County employees require the use of a cell phone in the normal course of their job or to be reached in an emergency; and
WHEREAS, the provision of a County-issued device or an allowance in lieu of a County-issued device as dictated by demonstrated need is governed by the guidelines set forth in the Lake County Employee Policies and Procedures Ordinance; and
WHEREAS, it is recommended that review, update and amendments of these policies are in the best interest of Lake County; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that in certain circumstances it is in the best interest of the County and the employee to offer an allowance in place of a County-issued phone; and
WHEREAS, the policy has been updated to reflect that the Director of Finance and Administrative Services has the authority to make changes to reimbursement amounts and County plans to reflect rate, usage, and/or plan changes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the amended Section 10.10 Cellular Telephones of the Lake County Employee Policies and Procedures Ordinance is hereby adopted.
