WHEREAS, the free flow of traffic along Lewis Avenue, County Highway 27, is beneficial for the safety and welfare of the State of Illinois, Lake County, and the City of Waukegan; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to 605 ILCS 5/5-105, the County Board, by resolution, may add portions of roads to the designated county highway system upon the approval of the Illinois Department of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, Lake County and the City of Waukegan are desirous of entering into an agreement for the jurisdictional transfer of the portion of Lewis Avenue from Sunset Avenue northward to York House Road, measuring approximately 6,515 feet, a draft copy of which is attached hereto from the City of Waukegan to Lake County; and

WHEREAS, with this jurisdictional transfer, which shall be effective upon Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) approval, Lake County is adding Lewis Avenue, from Sunset Avenue, County Highway 46, northward to York House Road, County Highway 65, measuring approximately 6515 feet, to the Lake County Highway System and designated as County Highway 27.
