AN ORDINANCE FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT
OF AN ALTERED SPEED ZONE - COUNTY HIGHWAYS

IT IS HEREBY DECLARED by the Lake County Board, that the basic statutory vehicular speed limits established by Chapter 625 - Section 5/11-604 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes is greater, or less, than is reasonable or safe with respect to the conditions found to exist on the County highway listed in the following Schedule for which the County has maintenance responsibility and which is not under the jurisdiction of the Department of Transportation of the State of Illinois.

BE IT FURTHER DECLARED that an engineering and traffic investigation has been made upon the County highways listed in the Schedule in accordance with a County Policy for establishing altered speed zones on Township and County highways prepared by the County Engineer and approved by the Illinois Department of Transportation in accordance with Chapter 625 - Section 5/11-604 and Section 5/11-301 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes; and,

BE IT FURTHER DECLARED that, by virtue of Section 5/11-604 of the above Chapter, this Board determines and declares that reasonable and safe absolute maximum speed limits upon those County highways described in the Schedule shall be as stated herein.
