· The program is 100% funded by ARRA, with no local match required and will support 36 months of salary, fringe and administrative expenses of a Victim Witness Counselor position to be housed in the State’s Attorney’s Office.
· The new Victim Witness Counselor will serve misdemeanor domestic violence victims and will assist as necessary in serving aggravated battery, cyber crime, identity theft and fraud victims.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office has applied for and has been awarded a US Department of Justice 2009 American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) grant, administered through the State of Illinois, that provides grant monies to state and local governments to create jobs and stimulate the economy; and
WHEREAS, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office will use this funding to create a new Victim Witness Counselor position in its inventory for the duration of the grant; and
WHEREAS, the 2009 ARRA JAG Grant program budget is $268,283 and it is necessary to appropriate this amount; and
WHEREAS, this new grant requires a separate accounting of Recovery Act grant funding.
