RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) has awarded a Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Apprenticeship Expansion Grant totaling $275,000 to the Workforce Development Department with a grant term of July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026; and
WHEREAS, Workforce Development is creating a new position, Apprenticeship Specialist - Care Economy and the position will be eliminated if or when this grant funding is no longer available and no other funding source outside of property tax dollars has been identified; and
WHEREAS, the WIOA Apprenticeship Expansion Grant funds personnel expenses, regional work and employer stipends.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that an emergency appropriation in the amount of $275,000 for the Workforce Development Department is hereby approved and that the WIOA Apprenticeship Expansion Grant be accepted.
