Staff Summary
· This is a two-year $189,693 enhancement grant from the US Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance.
· The funding will be used to hire a clinical psychologist in the Court’s Psychological Services division to complete the psychological evaluations for TIM Court clients.
· This position will reduce the current turn-around time of 30 days, allowing clients to move out of the jail and into the TIM Court program in at least half that time.
· The psychologist would also be available to provide psychotherapy to TIM Court participants and collaborate with other community-based services.
· The grant requires a 25% match totaling $63,231 over the two years that will be paid out of the probation service fee fund through an emergency appropriation of $63,231 in the probation service fee fund for the local match, an interfund transfer of $63,231 from probation service fees to the general fund.

WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance Adult Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program provides funds to enhance existing drug courts; and

WHEREAS, the 19th Judicial Circuit began a drug court program known as the Therapeutic and Intensive Monitoring (TIM) Court in 2005; and

WHEREAS, the 19th Judicial Circuit sought a $189,693 enhancement grant from the Bureau of Justice Assistance to enhance the TIM Court’s ability to evaluate clients and place them in the drug court program in a more timely manner; and
