Staff Summary
• The purpose of the WIOA Rapid Response Grant of $325,000 is to plan for and/or respond to layoffs and dislocations and to prevent or minimize their impacts on workers, businesses, and communities.
• The grant will serve approximately 25 dislocated workers through occupational training, work-based training, support services and case management to connect candidates with high quality jobs aligned with their career goals.
• The grant period is July 1, 2023 through December 31, 2024.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has provided WIOA Rapid Response Grant totaling $325,000 to the Lake County Workforce Development Department; and
WHEREAS, this funding covers expenses to serve 25 dislocated workers through occupational training, work-based training, support services and case management to connect candidates with high quality jobs aligned with their career goals; and
WHEREAS, this grant is for the program period of July 1, 2023 through December 31, 2024; and
WHEREAS, an emergency appropriation of $325,000 is requested to allocate these funds into the Workforce Department’s county Fiscal Year 2023 budget and authorize acceptance of this grant.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that an emergency appropriation in the amount of $325,000 for the Workforce Development Department is hereby approved and that the WIOA Rapid Response Grant be accepted.
