Resolution expressing support of the mission of the Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center.

WHEREAS, the mission of the Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center is to provide a place where survivors of sexual assault and abuse can heal, and to mobilize the community toward action to end sexual violence; and
WHEREAS, the Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center, located in Gurnee, IL, seeks to provide quality, comprehensive client-centered services to survivors of sexual assault and abuse, and services include a 24/7 hour hotline; crisis intervention; medical and legal advocacy; individual and group counseling for individuals, families and groups, child and adult, female or male; Child Assault Prevention (CAP) program both in English and Spanish within Lake County’s school system; training of teachers, emergency room personnel, paramedics, police officers, prosecutors, and social service providers on effective intervention and prevention procedures; and community education on sexual assault awareness, risk reduction, rape and incest; and
WHEREAS, the staff of 14 highly trained professionals is supported by a dynamic board of directors and an extended team of specially trained and dedicated volunteers; and all services are provided free of charge.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that we do hereby express our support for the mission of the Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center and commend the staff and volunteers for their dedicated service to area residents.
