Staff Summary
* The 2022 Apprenticeship Illinois Expansion grant was developed to expand apprenticeships and work-based learning/training opportunities.
* The 2022 Apprenticeship Illinois Expansion grant of $100,000 will be used to pay personnel costs of a Workforce Development Project Lead - Apprenticeship Navigator position and develop an employer incentive strategy when engaged with work-based learning models.
* This grant will be used to fund a new position, Project Lead - Apprenticeship Navigator, that will be eliminated if or when this grant's funding is no longer available and no other funding source outside of property tax dollars has been identified.
* The grant period is July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024.

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has provided the 2022 Apprenticeship Illinois Expansion grant totaling $100,000 to the Lake County Workforce Development Department; and

WHEREAS, this 2022 Apprenticeship Illinois Expansion grant is for the program period of July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024; and

WHEREAS, the grant will be used to pay personnel costs of a Workforce Development Project Lead - Apprenticeship Navigator position and develop an employer incentive strategy when engaged with work-based learning models; and

WHEREAS, this grant will be used to fund new position, Project Lead - Apprenticeship Navigator, that will be eliminated if or when this grant's funding is no longer available and no other funding source outside of property tax dollars has been identified; and

WHEREAS, an emergency appropriation of $100,000 is requested to allocate these funds into the Workforce Department's county fiscal year 2023 budget and authorize acceptance of this grant.
