Staff Summary
• The Lake County Board’s Strategic Plan identifies sustainable environment as a strategic priority with the performance measure of enhancing climate resiliency through long-term planning.
• The Sustainability Programs Manager was invited to participate in the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning’s (CMAP) Climate Committee to represent the views and priorities of Lake County to create a Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP) for Greater Chicago.
• The CCAP for Greater Chicago identifies key actions needed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from all major sources and align the greater Chicago region with national net-zero emissions goals by 2050.
• Staff from CMAP have prepared an informational presentation on the content of the CCAP and how it provides guidance to counties for public climate action implementation.
